Most automobiles are equipped with cigarette lighters that have a dual purpose, turn on cigarettes and power various accessories while you're driving. Like the other accessories in your car, the lighter gets its battery power, so make sure your battery is strong enough to power and start the vehicle.
Instructions
1.Make sure your accessory is equipped with a cigarette lighter adapter. This is a circular, bulb shaped unit that has a metal connector at the end. The most common accessories that these adapters have are radar detectors, cell phone chargers, MP3 players and GPS devices.
2.Remove the burner unit or cover (standardized on most vehicles) and attach the accessory adapter to the igniter.
3.Start the car. You can also simply put the ignition in "Accessories" mode on some vehicles to send power to the lighter.
4.Turn on the accessory and use it when you need it. If it is a mobile phone charger, connect the other end of the cable to your handheld device. Keep in mind that when the car is switched off and you have removed the ignition keys, the accessory will automatically shut down, so save your device settings before doing so.

1.If the accessory does not turn on, rotate the connector.
2.If you need to use more than one accessory that needs the power of the cigarette lighter at the same time, you can buy a splitter device.
