EKEN H8R: 4K, WiFi, dual display, command ... has it all!

Sports cameras, as a rule, do not differ much from each other in terms of in design. A SportCam should be small and light enough to take up drone placed without sacrificing the best visual performance. This is the EKEN H8R, a sports camera that meets the needs we always look, but still is growing.

The camera EKEN H8R has dimensions of 59.3 x 21.4 x 41.1 mm, slightly somewhat less thick than the GoPro cameras but also compatible with all accessories for high-end camera, since it also includes the placement of buttons. The battery weight is 66 g, lighter than Xiaomi Yi (72 g) or GoPro 4 (84 g) range. As for materials, plastic ABS for better resistance against shock and textured for a better grip of the camera.

EKEN incorporates 2 screens to his sports camera, a front for data - function display and a rear live - gallery. On the front we have the optics of the camera, the power button and screen printing brand. On the right side we have the speaker, microSD card slot, microUSB charging port / read content and mini HDMI connector; all this without any cover to prevent dust. The left side is reserved for the WiFi connection button on the top side and have the microphone and the power button - catch.

The camera EKEN H8R comes ready for our adventures with Sony IMX078 sensor, 12 MP sensor capable of 4K quality videos at 30 fps. This sensor has been used in other cameras as SJ5000X Elite, or Firefly SJ8000 6S offering works with good visual finish. According to the manufacturer's specifications, the camera allows recording EKEN H8R the following resolutions: 4K @ 30fps, 2.7K @ 30fps, 1080p @ 60fps and 1080p @ 30fps. Sunplus 6350 incorporates the processor, the same one that also uses the H9 brand model.

A priori, have a camera that is able to reach 30 fps at 4K resolution for this price is a luxury, however, after tests have to certify that those 30 fps are interpolated, so that really catches performed at 15 fps. This makes the video made not see quite fluid. Other cameras like Git 2 Gitup not reach such a figure natively, but stays at 24 fps interpolated. Here is a sample of what we try to explain we leave, select the resolution 4K on the player.

Beyond high resolutions we have another problem and possibly the most we can harm, video stabilization. If we are that we equip the camera to record all our adventures, the camera does not have any stabilization or digital or optical. And speaking of optics, fisheye lens 170 degrees to not miss a single detail of everything that happens around you.

Autonomy will not be a problem with the battery of 1050 mAh which incorporates the camera EKEN H8R. It allows us to make recordings at 1080p - 30fps for 1.5 hours and 4K-30fps / 2.7K-30fps / 1080p-60fps for 1 hour. Charging is done via the microUSB port and the battery is removable in case we want to replace.

As mentioned in section design, the camera consists of two screens. The front resembles including the GoPro cameras, showing the capture mode (photo or video), WiFi connection, display remaining battery, capture resolution and duration of it. A complete OLED information display, very showy not waste time on complicated menus. The rear 2-inch screen with a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels, displays live images as well as the setup menu.

If you like this one, you could purchase at Banggood. By the way, there are other excellent sports cameras that you can take into consideration. Such as, EKEN H2, Eken H3, etc.
